May marks Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the cultures, stories, and voices that continue to shape communities across the country. One space where Asian American voices are making a major impact right now is comedy. For years, Asian Americans were often boxed into stereotypes that left little room for humor or individuality. Today, a new wave of comedians is changing that narrative through sharp storytelling, cultural observations, and unapologetically funny sets that resonate with audiences everywhere.
That energy takes center stage at the Asian Comedy Fest on May 30th, presented by the Chicago Asian Network and the Comedy Plex Comedy Club in Oak Park.

The festival brings together a diverse lineup of comedians for a night that blends laughter, community, and celebration. More than just a comedy show, Asian Comedy Fest highlights how humor has become a powerful way for Asian American performers to share their experiences on their own terms. Guests can expect a lively atmosphere, convenient parking next door at the Holley Court Garage, and a cashless venue where outside food is welcome. The club does require a two-drink minimum per person, and guests must be 21 and over unless accompanied by an adult.
The evening features two different shows, giving audiences plenty of reasons to stay for the full experience. The 7:00 PM Kickoff Show opens the night with performances from Erick Esteban, Mark Bon, Fujiko, Johnny Mocny, Sofia Javed, Saku Yanagawa, and Jerry Tran. Expect a mix of global perspectives, clever observations, and relatable humor that sets the tone for the night. Then at 9:30 PM, The Late Show raises the energy with Leah Eva, Sonny Bhatt, Susie An, Erick Esteban, Haikal Rozaidi, Tony Castro, and Eunji Kim for a bolder and more unfiltered lineup.
Tickets for each show are available for $20, making it an easy way to celebrate the final stretch of AAPI Heritage Month with friends, family, and fellow comedy fans.
And the fun does not stop when the final set ends. Guests are encouraged to stick around for Late Night Karaoke, turning the venue into a space where audiences and performers can keep the celebration going together. It is the kind of atmosphere that makes the event feel bigger than a typical night out. It is a reminder that Asian American stories are not one-dimensional. They are honest, chaotic, relatable, and yes, incredibly funny too.
Whether you are coming for the stand-up, the karaoke, or simply a great night with the community, the Asian Comedy Fest promises an unforgettable way to close out AAPI Heritage Month.
Celebrate the end of AAPI Heritage Month with community, culture, and non-stop laughter. Secure your $20 tickets today and get ready to laugh the night away in Oak Park!
