The world is never in short supply of great stories however there are times where Asian American stories aren’t told and lack the representation it deserves . What we need right now more than ever are champions for these stories. When you write for Chicago Asian Network, we want you to be an advocate of bridging the community, fostering growth and collaboration, sharing wins in our community that normally don't get highlighted on mainstream media, making you a pioneer in journalism and representation.
What do we look for in an article?
We’re seeking writers of all backgrounds that allow us to stay true to our tagline “Connect with all Asian Communities”. So if your article provides genuinely useful and interesting information to the Asian American community, it is more likely to be published. Your article could be based on an event, a cause, a company, a person, a fundraiser, or a subject. We only accept original content.While we can’t detail our selection process, our editors will evaluate each article based on these 3 questions:
- Is it relevant and meaningful to the Asian American community?
- Is the information uncommon and interesting to our community?
- Is the writing free of errors and a pleasure to read?
Why write for Chicago Asian Network?
Your work will appear alongside other movers and shakers in the Community. Our readers, which are made up of both community and thought leaders, community organizations, and Asian Americans in various industries, will be enjoying your articles. While we cannot offer compensation to contributing writers, you will have your own author page to build your reputation and portfolio as a journalist. All of your articles will be promoted enthusiastically on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. You will also have the opportunity to interview both established and up-and-coming Asian Americans to expand your network.

Chicago Asian Network reaches 30K readers a month through its website and other affiliated channels. 53% male and 47% female. Our top audience traits are Asian American professionals, community organizations, entrepreneurs, connectors & influencers.
What is the article format?
We keep our article formatting simple and easy for readers to follow:
- Word count: 400 – 700 words
- We prefer articles in the following format:
- Title (H1)
- Subtitle
- Introduction paragraph
- Subheading (H2)
- Body Paragraphs
- Subheading (H2)
- Body Paragraphs
- Conclusion / Call to Action
What about terms and copyright?
Can I submit the same article to other publications at the same time?
- Please submit original content. We retain first publication rights and the right to reuse or modify content.
- Once you submit your article, we ask for a 30 days period for us to review it. If you don’t hear from us after 30 days, feel free to follow up with us or submit your article elsewhere.
Can I submit my article after it’s published in Chicago Asian Network?
- 60 days after your article publish date in Chicago Asian Network, you are free to re-submit to other publications with the phrase “Originally published at Chicago Asian Network” with a hyperlink to your article URL.
Do I get paid or do I get compensated for submitting an article?
- This is a non-paid opportunity, so there is no tax or contractor agreement.
