Alex Eala is having a notable year on the tennis court. But some of the more interesting signs of her rise can be found outside the rankings.

At 21, the Filipina is ranked No. 18 in the world and has one WTA Tour singles title. Her growing profile is also showing up in ticket sales, sponsorships and, back home in the Philippines, interest in the sport itself.
At the Washington, D.C. tournament, tournament chairman Mark Ein said at least 80% of ticket requests were asking when Eala would be playing. In Toronto, around 3,100 tickets sold for the Wednesday night session featuring Eala and Canadian player Leylah Fernandez, selling out the session early in the tournament.

The interest has extended to the U.S. Open. According to Front Office Sports, the get-in price for the Tuesday night session increased 132% over three days after Eala was announced for the session. Her practice sessions have also drawn notable crowds at tournaments this year.
Her growing visibility has also translated into commercial opportunities. Forbes estimates that Eala earned about $1.7 million in prize money in 2026 and more than $5 million in off-court earnings over the previous 12 months. She has four-year agreements with Globe and BPI, with each deal reportedly guaranteeing more than $1 million annually.
That commercial strategy was not built overnight. According to Forbes, Eala's management team began laying the groundwork after her 2022 Junior U.S. Open championship, focusing on long-term partnerships that could keep her visible throughout the tennis calendar.
The interest around Eala is also being felt in the Philippines.
An AFP report found that beginner tennis racquet sales at Decathlon Philippines increased 66% over the past year. Coaches have reported more young people signing up to play, while finding available tennis courts has become more difficult. Eala's former grade school also reported that student tennis sign-ups had doubled over the same period.

The next major test will come at home. Eala is scheduled to play at the Philippine Arena in December, where the venue's more than 50,000 seats could put the event within reach of the attendance record for a live tennis match.
Eala's career is still developing. But the numbers around her suggest that her influence is already extending beyond wins and rankings, bringing more attention to the business and broader participation side of tennis along the way.
