Event Date: September 17, 2026 (6PM)

At 6 pm on Thursday, September 17, a panel discussion of the work of award-winning Japanese author Yu Miri (Tokyo Ueno Station) will be held at Depaul University in Room 314 of the Lincoln Park Student Center. Panelists include Yu Miri herself, as well as Professor Michael Bourdaghs (University of Chicago), and Dr. Scott W. Aalgaard.

The panel will be moderated by Professor Yuki Miyamoto. The program will also include a reading of excerpts from Yu Miri's novel The End of August and her work-in-progress play OBON (based on oral history interviews with Chicago's Japanese American community). The event is co-sponsored by DePaul Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, the University of Chicago Center for East Asian Studies, and the Japan Foundation, New York, and is free and open to the public.
