PIYESTA PINOY GOES ONLINE ON ITS 8TH YEAR

In celebration of the Philippine’s 123rd Independence day, Philippine American Cultural Foundation (PACF) presents Piyesta Pinoy, an online virtual fiesta.

In partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, the usual 12-hour live celebration will instead be live streamed online via Youtube and Facebook on June 12. From 2PM to 4:30PM CST, the online event will showcase performances of local talents including Chicago’s celebrity Emil Nicolasin who recently sang at the Chicago Bulls game and the Chicago Cubs game. With media sponsorship from GMA Pinoy TV, a half-hour recorded special of Filipino celebrities Rayver Cruz, Glaiza de Castro and Chef JR Royol will be featured. Also joining the fiesta is Cathy Ang, Chinese-Filipina actress best known for her role as Fei Fei in Netflix's Academy award animated movie-musical Over the Moon.

Although the show is virtual, there will be a flag raising ceremony at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center on June 12, 8AM. Everyone is still asked to bring and wear face masks and observe social distancing. The event will welcome Bolingbrook’s new Mayor, Hon. Mary Alexander-Basta and will be joined by representatives from Philippine Consulate General in Chicago. Filipiniana attire is suggested for photoshoot and banners are encouraged to be brought for group or partner organizations. Anyone who plans to attend, please RSVP to piyestapinoy@gmail.com. 

The celebration is not just a one-day party! In line with this year’s title “At Home with Piyesta Pinoy 2021: Support Local Filipino Restaurants for Recovery,” the organizers also aim to support restaurants that were severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. We are inviting local Filipino restaurants to partner with Piyesta Pinoy and participate in a raffle to benefit fellow Filipino-owned restaurants that were affected by the pandemic.

The raffle entails that anyone who dines in or orders takeout in any of the participating restaurants from May 15 to June June 30 has a chance to win prizes donated by the Piyesta Pinoy sponsors and donors. Raffle draw announcement will be on July 3.
