Established in the spring of 2022, the Jade Chinese Music Ensemble has quickly become a premier Chinese music ensemble in the greater Chicago area. Drawing musicians from the University of Chicago community and beyond, Jade is committed to promoting both traditional and contemporary Chinese music while integrating Western and other global music styles. Over the past two years, Jade has performed at a variety of commercial and professional venues, including Navy Pier, the Field Museum, Chinatown Summer Fair, Chicago Opera House, and Old Town School of Music.

Jade has introduced some of the most outstanding pieces in contemporary Chinese music to audiences in the US. They have premiered works such as Dreams by the Plum Blossoms by Danhong Wang, The Ancient Road of Silk and Horse by Bochan Li, and Winds of Affinity by Chenwei Wang. They have also performed the beloved Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto with internationally acclaimed violinist Anna Filochowska.
