Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander experiences are heavily shaped by U.S. immigration policy. Over half of all Asian Americans, and one in six Pacific Islanders are foreign-born. Many of us trace our immigrant roots over generations, while others came more recently as refugees, and others as part of the skilled workforce. The U.S.’ current immigration system is in desperate need of reform, and our community’s experiences must be considered when discussing solutions.
