A LIFE OF ART
Inspirations and Methodologies of Two Prolific Filipino American Artists

Painting is considered one of the three classical branches of visual art—the other two being sculpture and architecture. Among painters, there are the surrealistic, abstract, modern, modernist, impressionistic, and realistic. Many of us admire the work of talented painters and often wonder what inspired them to create the type of work they produce.
Join us as we chat with two prolific painters from Illinois and New York.
Elisa Boughner is owner and soul artist at her gallery, Artifex Studio in Glenview, Illinois. Her works are owned, and have been displayed, by such organizations as Saks Fifth Avenue, Rush University Medical Center, Northwestern Plastic Surgery, Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, Catholic Charities, Wintrust Bank, Glenview State Bank, as well as countless private collectors in the United States and abroad.
We’ll also meet Ronald Cortez, a self-taught artist whose realistic paintings reflects daily life in the Philippine towns where he was raised. Galleries in Manila began regularly showing his work and art enthusiasts began collecting his pieces. For two years, he taught art instruction at De La Salle Zobel School in Ayala, Alabang. Ronald, whose work has garnered worldwide accolades, currently resides in New York City.
