Event Date: May 3, 2025 2:30-3:30PM

Sijo is a traditional Korean poetic form with a rich history spanning over 700 years. Composed of three lines totaling 45 syllables, its concise structure makes it an ideal introduction to poetry for beginners. In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamental structure of sijo and have the opportunity to compose their own sijo and share their creations with the group.

Lucy Park is the Executive Director of the Sejong Cultural Society, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization. A sijo poet, she has been teaching this traditional Korean poetry form for over 15 years across the United States. Her book, SIJO: Korea's Poetry Form, was awarded the Franklin Buchanan Prize by the Association for Asian Studies for its excellence as an outstanding instructional resource.
