Creators and editors of "10,000 Memories: a lived history of Partition" Dr. Guneeta Singh Bhalla and Prof. Erin Riggs will be giving an oral history workshop, helping the participants to develop the necessary set of skills required for archiving the oral history of people.
In this workshop, the participations will be taught the art of taking interviews, how to transcribe, and the ways to mobilize the oral collections of history. Happening on August 27, 11AM-4PM at the South Asian Institute (1925 South Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 60616).

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
Dr. Guneeta Singh Bhalla and Professor Erin Riggs are the curators and editors of "10,000 Memories: a lived history of Partition." Bhalla is also the founder and the executive director of the 1947 Partition Archive, an organization that has documented thousands of stories of the victims of the India-Pakistan partition.
Erin P Riggs is a contemporary and historical archaeologist with interests in welfare state initiatives, materiality, national belonging, and displacement in the recent past.
Based on the first and the largest pan-South Asian oral history survey ever conducted, 10,000 Memories tells the story of Partition, World War II, and Independence in the mid-20th century Indian subcontinent through hundreds of individual experiences
