What is The Great Baklaan?
The Great Baklaan is, first and foremost, a Filipinx/a/o LGBTQ+ event, and we cannot wait to connect with you there!
Event Date: Saturday, June 8 · 10am - 8pm CDT
It is also a collaboration between AFIRE and our friends at Luya Poetry, Blasian March, and LGBTQ+ organizers from all over Chicago. The Great Baklaan reimagines community partnerships and collaborations to elevate the LGBTQ+ issues facing our community and showcase the talents and resources of our diverse community members.
Tickets to this day-long event include a number of spaces for participants to engage:
- A panel and breakout session in the morning and afternoon (2 separate panel topics)
- A gallery walk / collaborative art-making space
- A resource fair
- Access to local groups with LGBTQ+ leadership or prioritizing LGBTQ+ issues
- Evening performance showcasing local Filipinx/a/o LGBTQ+ performers
